Russian toy producer improves its efficiency with new technology

The company is a well-known Russian toy producing company. It has been on the market for a number of years and gained recognition from multiple clients, both inside the country and abroad.

The company was suffering from unreliable energy supply and power black-outs. To solve the problem and reduce the energy costs, it contacted RuSEFF for advisory package and affordable financing.

The RuSEFF team assisted the company with the energy assessment of the production facilities, potential energy saving measures, evaluation of their profitability and financial-technical parameters.

The suggested project comprised installation of the on-site co-generation plant to replace the unsatisfying energy supply. The company had sufficient gas capacity for this new CHP.

The €1.3 million investment allowed the company to reduce its annual energy consumption by substantial 5,200 MWh, equal to annual €360,000 of cost savings. This means the investment will be repaid from energy savings in less than four years. The company will feel the benefits of these measures immediately by enjoying the uninterrupted heat and electricity supply, improved working and operations' conditions, as well as lower energy bills.

In addition, the company reduced the greenhouse emissions by 650 tonnes per year, making its valuable input to improved local and global environment.

This project demonstrates that energy efficiency investments can be not only profitable, but also ensure energy supply. This project improved the company’s energy independence, revenues and competitiveness on the market.

The EBRD through RuSEFF supports implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects by the private sector. Together, the private, residential, and public sectors can make a change in the energy consumption patterns and contribute to environmental protection.
