Case Study

Polish vehicles repair company benefits from energy savings

The client is an SME vehicles repair and maintenance company, specializing in bodywork and painting of cars.

The company decided to modernise its production facilities to increase the product quality and reduce its energy consumption.

Until recently, the company used the painting cabin manufactured in 1975, which was quite inefficient by today’s standards. The company addressed PolSEFF2 for an affordable financing to replace the old painting cabin with a new and efficient one.

The PolSEFF team performed the analysis of the proposed technology, its potential of energy savings, financial-technical parameters and profitability of the project.

The PLN 287,417 investment allowed the company to reduce the energy consumption by 40 per cent or 125,582 kWhe per year, resulting in substantial cost savings. The investment will be repaid from energy cost savings and increased sales in two years only. In addition, the company decreased its CO2 emissions by 77 tonnes per year, making its small, but valuable input to mitigation of the negative effect of human activity on climate.

This project significantly improved the company’s financial standing and competitiveness. It proved that investments in energy efficient modernization are possible in all sectors and bring multiple benefits. Therefore, it is worth checking the energy saving potential of possible investment measures.

The EBRD through PolSEFF2 supports the sustainable financing and implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects by the private sector. Together, the private, residential, and public sectors can make a change in the energy consumption patterns and contribute to environmental protection.
