Polish textile company modernises and saves energy

The company is a medium size family textile business located in Lodzy, the centre of Polish textile industry since the XIX century. The company focuses on colouring, bleaching, scouring, processing and trimming of fabrics, as well as on digital printing on knitted and textile fabrics.

To reduce the energy consumption, increase the production capacity and quality, the company decided to replace its water treatment plant.

The company approached PolSEFF for an affordable financing and technical package for this investment.

The PolSEFF team performed the analysis of the proposed technology, its potential of energy savings, financial-technical parameters and profitability.

The €214,000 investment allowed the company to reduce its energy consumption by significant 94 per cent, while increasing the production capacity by 100 per cent. The investment will be repaid from energy savings only in one year. In addition, the company reduced its CO2 emissions by 550 tonnes per year, making its valuable input to mitigation of the negative effect of human activity on climate.

This project has crucially improved the company’s financial standing and competitiveness on the market, contributing to its secure future. It demonstrates that investments related to energy efficiency may be among the most profitable and quickly repaid ones. Therefore, it is worth checking the energy saving potential of possible investment measures.

The EBRD through PolSEFF supports the sustainable financing and implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy projects by the private sector.
